Where is argan grown?

Heargan tree(Argania spinosa) is native toMoroccoand some areas ofAlgeria, where it grows in desert and semi-arid regions. Most of the trees are found in the southwestern region of Morocco, in an area known as the Arganeraie Biosphere Reserve.

Argan oil extraction process

1. Fruit Collection:The ripe fruits of the argan tree are picked manually. Each fruit contains a nut that in turn houses up to three seeds.
2. Drying and Peeling:The fruits are dried in the sun and peeled to extract the nuts.
3. Crushed and Pressed:The seeds are roasted (for edible oil) or left raw (for cosmetics). They are then crushed and pressed to obtain the oil.
4. Filtered out:The oil is filtered to eliminate impurities, obtaining a pure final product ready for use.
