What is white beeswax in pearls?

It is a wax of animal origin produced by honeybees and refined through purification, giving it a light, even color unlike unrefined yellow beeswax. It is composed mainly of fatty acid esters, free fatty acids, long-chain alcohols and other natural organic compounds that give it a solid, malleable texture at room temperature.

For cosmetic use it is supplied in pearl or granule form, a format designed to ease handling in the lab or workshop: it melts evenly, weighs accurately, and avoids the mold and tool wear caused by traditional wax blocks.

Cosmetic uses of white beeswax pearls

Emollient in creams and balms. It adds body and a silky texture to water-in-oil emulsions, helping stabilize the oil phase without leaving a heavy feel on the skin.

Protective barrier formation. Its film-forming ability makes it a common ingredient in lip balms, hand creams and skin-protection products, where it helps reduce transepidermal water loss.

Natural hardener in solid formulations. It is used as a structuring agent in cosmetic candles, solid sticks, solid perfume bars and deodorants, providing stability at room temperature.

Base for handcrafted cosmetics. Because it keeps a light color, it is the preferred choice when formulators want to avoid altering the final shade of creams, balms or soaps, compared to unrefined yellow wax.
