White kaolin clay or kaolinite is a natural silicate of aluminum, iron and magnesium that owes its name to its place of origin, the Chinese mountain of Kao-lin. After extraction from the quarries, it is crushed and dried, resulting in a fine white powder very rich in silica. Silica has exfoliating, purifying and moisturizing properties. All of it has made white kaolin clay one of the most popular ingredients in the development of natural cosmetic treatments.
