Murmuru butter is obtained by first cold pressing Astrocaryum murumuru nuts and later refining, a process by which unwanted properties are removed from the product. The nuts of this murumuru tree are native to the Amazon basin. It stands out in its composition for the high concentration of lauric acid and carotenoids, with antioxidant and photoprotective properties.
