Organic chamomile essential oil is obtained by water steam distillation of Matricaria recutita flowers. This species of herbaceous plant is native to Europe and the warm regions of Asia. Its composition stands out for the majority presence of bisabolol oxide, one of the active substances of chamomile essential oil, with soothing and softening properties. It also contains farnesene, a sesquiterpene that has emollient and protective characteristics on the skin; and to a lesser extent chamazulene, an aromatic responsible for its characteristic smell.
